Our First Anual Walk for Liza

The inaugural Walk for Liza took place on October 21, 2023, beginning at Kappa Delta and ending at Paloma Park. Along the way, participants were joined in celebration and remembrance, culminating in a community event featuring 16 generous raffle donors—including Christopher Mobley, University Spirit, Classic City Cycling, the Interfraternity Council, and Panhellenic Council, among others.

The event included a performance by Wim Tapley and moving speeches from Laura McKeithen, Liza’s mother, and Becky Martin of the Knox Martin Foundation, who shared the powerful stories of Liza and Knox.

In its first year, Walk for Liza raised nearly $10,000. In addition to fundraising, the event supports the Liza Burke Community Spirit Award, an endowed partnership with the University of Georgia. This award honors individuals or groups who make a meaningful impact on their peers, campus, or community through character, compassion, and a willingness to lead by example.
